President’s Reflection: Speaking with Grace & Salt

Date Published: October 02, 2011
One of my favorite verses in the Bible it is the following:
“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”
– Colossians 4:3.
One of our primary tasks at NCC is to speak with and on behalf of of those with cancer and chronic diseases throughout the world. Often, these patients and their families lack the vital resources and medicines they need and we are called upon to speak on their behalf. We seek to provide them with the resources they need by connecting them to our coalition partners of caring individual donors, physicians, corporate supporters and our many other colleagues.
In doing this, we are mindful of the need to speak with grace, which means that we must be understanding, gracious and respectful in our communications. In addition, we are called upon to with season our speaking with salt, in this case meaning, we are called upon to give some insight into what the lives of these patients and those who care for them are all about.
In our new email newsletter, we’re “sprinkling the salt”, through patient and partner features. We hope this gives you a window to the impact your support can have as well as insight into the work we perform.
Thanks for reading,
Rob
