Angel Grants Awarded to Support Pediatric Cancer Research
The National Cancer Coalition Provides Highly Coveted Seed Funding
Date Published: July 21, 2010
With cancer causing more deaths among children than any other disease in the United States, the National Cancer Coalition (NCC) is committed to equipping pediatric oncology researchers with the resources necessary to pursue innovative and alternative treatment options for children suffering with cancer. NCC, therefore, is proud to be providing highly sought-after seed funding to pediatric cancer researchers through its Angel Grants Program.
The NCC Angel Grants Program is seeking to make a difference by supporting cutting-edge research that has the potential to save the lives of children who have already received traditional treatment with little or no success. We believe that investing now in pediatric cancer research will lead to new breakthroughs in diagnosis, treatment, and cures. To this end, we have supported research on some of the most common and challenging pediatric cancers, such as brain tumors, leukemia, neuroblastoma, Wilms tumor, and retinoblastoma. Past Angel Grant recipients have included, among others, pediatric oncology researchers at Johns Hopkins Medical Center, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, University of Chicago’s Comer Children’s Hospital, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
The National Cancer Coalition implemented its Angel Grants program to provide seed funding to novel projects that benefit and further cancer research, education, and special programs. Grants are also awarded to act as a catalyst for scientists to secure additional funding from United States government agencies and other sources. For more information on Angel Grants and how to apply, please visit our website at: http://www.nationalcancercoalition.org.
The National Cancer Coalition, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, supports relief and research programs throughout the world. The Coalition’s international medical relief program provides requested pharmaceuticals to medical facilities that treat underserved patients in over 50 developing countries around the world. The NCC Provides Program awards financial and product support for at-risk American patients, who would otherwise not be able to have full access.
